St. Augustine Parish Ministries Faith Formation Commission
The Ministry of Faith Formation is to live fully the teachings of Jesus Christ through a process of lifelong education. The Faith Formation Commission oversees the establishment, implementation, and achievement of parish, deanery, and archdiocesan goals and policies pertaining to ongoing Faith Formation and education. The full commission meets quarterly on the third Tuesday of August, October, February and May.

Deanery Faith Formation Commission
The Deanery Faith Formation Commission meets
monthly throughout the year except for December and July. There is a
representative from each parish who advises and works with the Director of the
Deanery catechetical Ministry. Contact:

Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA) Team
The Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults is designed to present the faith to adults seeking initiation into the Catholic Christian faith. This team of volunteers meet quarterly for planning and attend weekly RCIA
sessions from September through May. Contact:

Adult Faith Formation
The Adult Faith Formation Committee provides learning opportunities to nourish and enrich the faith lives of adults in the lifelong journey of faith formation. This committee currently offers various programs and activities for the growth and enrichment of adult faith including Scripture Studies, and programs with special speakers.

Bible Study/Scripture Study
The Catholic Community of Jeffersonville offers three different Bible study programs these include:
Monday Morning Bible Study The Study of and
reflection upon God's Word. They meet on Mondays at 10 AM, September to
May. It is open to all parishioners.

Leonard
Soup and Psalms Growth in personal
formation and spirituality through prayer and reflection on the Psalms,
and through the sharing of a bowl of soup. This group meets in the
evening the 2nd Monday of every month. Program is self-sustaining
through freewill offering. Participants will occasionally supply soup or
other food items.

Wednesday Scripture Study The study of and
reflection of Sunday's Reading. Various books of the Bible are studied
and reflected on as well. They meet on Wednesdays at 1:00 p.m. September
to May. It is open to all parishioners.

Elementary Catechists
Classes designed to present the Catholic faith to children in preschool through 8 grade. A team of volunteer catechists, under the director of Faith Formation (D.R.E.), utilize children's curiosity and experience to help them discover their faith. A Minimum of 30 weekly sessions from August through the middle of April (Sunday mornings). Catechists are required to attend both Catechist's training as well as Virtus
training.

Catechist Assistants
In addition to the classroom teacher,
classes also have a catechist assistant. This person is usually high
school students or an adult who has a passion for working with younger
children.

Ecumenical Vacation Bible School
The Ecumenical Vacation Bible School is a joint effort of our Catholic Community, Wall Street United Methodist Church, First Presbyterian Church, St. Luke's United Church of Christ and St. Paul Episcopal. The EVBS takes place in the evening for one week in the summer at First Presbyterian Church. Contact:

Sacramental Prep
The Children's sacramental prep
is for First Reconciliation (first semester) and First Eucharist (second
semester) The Youth prepare for the celebration of the sacrament of
Confirmation. This is in collaboration with Youth Ministry.
