Family Life Ministry
Pre-Cana Program
The pre-cana ministry is a one day program that each couple getting married
at St. Augustine is asked to attend. The day is especially for the engage couple
to work on their relationship.
The schedule includes the following presentations and after each presentation
the couple is given a handout for them to answer a few questions and come
together and share and discuss their answers.
The Sacrament of
Marriage. - Fr. Cliff gives the engage couple an overview of the meaning of
marriage as a sacrament and what your wedding ceremony should say about
you and your relationship with god.
Recognize
and value those in our lives - This presentation is given by a
married couple and they talk about the differences between men and
women. They talk about the physical and emotional differences between
men and women and if they are not understood, realized and discussed,
they could lead to trouble in the marriage.
Communication and intimacy
- This presentation is given by a married couple and they discuss how to accept
others for whom and where they are. They explain the different levels of
communication, and how to use them to increase the intimacy in your life. They
also explain ways to build intimacy in our marriage and in our relationships.
Reducing
and overcoming conflicts - This presentation is given by a married
couple and they will give ideas on how to handle conflicts that will
arise in our daily lives, how people will react to conflicts, what
causes conflicts to happen and how to deal with conflicts.
Expectations
- This presentation is given by a married couple and they explain how
every new relationship you enter into you will have expectations of what
will happen. Marriage is no exception. The presentations give each
couple the opportunity to list some of the expectations they have of
their future spouse and what are some of the expectations they feel
their spouse will have of them.
