Bless Me Father, For I Have Sinned
- When was the last time you went to confession? A year ago? Five years ago?
Cant remember? Many adult Catholics, for whatever reason, do not attend
confession or participate in the Rite of Reconciliation, therefore, they find it
difficult to experience the healing and mercy that is so central to our faith.
If you are one of these people, try reading How to Go to Confession
When You Dont Know How by Ann M.S. LeBlanc. This 60 page book
outlines the steps of how to participate in the sacrament of reconciliation
these days. Our parish has several copies that can be checked out from either
church library or from the bookcase in the sanctuary at St. Augustine. If you
have any questions about this book, see Ann Northam for additional information.

ARE YOU BETWEEN THE AGES OF 23-39? The Faith Formation
Ministry is looking for Young Adults who are interested in becoming
part of the Young Adult Leadership Planning Group. The group will
review the suggestions from the Young Adult Focus Group and plan
and participate in activities centered around meeting other young
adults within the parish, service projects, and many other activities.
If interested please contact Tiffany Brown at (502)550-3506;
Barbara Turner at (812)284-4290; or

The Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults
The weekly RCIA (Rite of Initiation for Adults) is Thursday, 6:00 p.m., in
St. Augustine Parish Hall. If you know of
someone who is interested in joining the Church, please invite
them to RCIA.
RCL
Benziger's Apprentices in Faith ... Apprentices in Faith is a unique, online resource for the Rite of Christian Initiation
of Adults (RCIA), based on the Churchs time-honored model of apprenticeship. It
provides RCIA teams and participants with sound liturgical, scriptural, and doctrinal
resources to use throughout the RCIA process. Materials for Apprentices in Faith
are uploaded quarterly. You will eventually find resources for every
Sunday of the three-year lectionary cycle.
The Catholic Community of Jeffersonville is a member of the online RCLBenziger community.
Contact
Ann Northam for the username and password. After accessing the
Apprentices in Faith site, click on "Members",

The Church has good news to proclaim about the family and about human love and sexuality. This good news is important for our children to learn as they are bombarded with many mixed messages from contemporary
culture, media and a variety of powerful voices. Catholic sexuality education
helps one to understand that sexuality is a gift from God, a precious dimension of human life that requires reverence and care. It sets forth the call to chastity and recognizes the critical importance of the family and particularly parents in the education of their children in human sexuality. Unless the family continually impresses the right attitudes, unless the root values and beliefs of the faith are established in the early years of childhood development in the home, other forms of Christian education can scarcely be effective.
In helping parents with this critically important responsibility, the Archdiocese of Indianapolis is implementing revisions to the guidelines for chastity and sexuality education in our elementary schools and both elementary and high school faith formation/youth ministry programs.
Our School and Elementary Faith Formation program will be using Benziger
Family Life series to provide catechesis on sexuality for our students.
This series has been approved by the United States Catholic Conference of
Bishops for both content and methodology. The role and responsibility of
parents in the education of their children regarding faith and sexuality is
critical.

"The object of catechesis is communion with Jesus Christ. Catechesis leads
people to enter the mystery of Christ, to encounter him, and to discover
themselves and the meaning of their lives in him."
(National
Directory of Catechesis [Washington, DC; United States Conference of
Catholic Bishops, 2005], no. 19B)
Go, therefore, and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the
name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to
observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always,
until the end of age. (Mt 28:19-20)
